COUNSELOR TRAINING PROGRAM

The Pastoral Counselor Training Program of the Pastoral Institute’s Turner Ministry Resource Center provides quality pastoral counseling and psychotherapy training in an American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) certified program.

Trainees have the opportunity to work with a diverse population in a variety of settings and capacities, which include:
  • Psycho-educational groups and counseling for women homeless shelters.
  • Pastoral counseling therapy for couples, families and individuals on site.
  • Counseling and psycho-educational groups and domestic violence shelters.
The program is a rich, intensive, individualized experience that emphasizes the personal growth of the counselor as well as personal, pastoral and professional integration in the context of the Judeo-Christian faith. We affirm and recognize as a primary hermeneutic for learning and for serving together, Aboriginal elder Lila Watson’s observation:

If you've come here to help me, you're wasting your time.
But if you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine,
          then let us work together.
